The author of four “real Guernsey novels”, Rex Ferbrache, was born in 1938 in May Cottage up the road from the Cup and Saucer, Guernsey, the Channel Islands and was evacuated to England just before the Germans arrived during World War II.

His mother, Hilda, carried him together with one suitcase down to the harbour in Guernsey and caught one of the last boats out in June 1940.
His father, Reginald Stanley Ferbrache did not manage to catch a boat and was in Guernsey for all of the war.

He returned to Guernsey after the war and attended the Boys Intermediate school, now the Guernsey Grammar School, where he wasted his time and did not benefit from having passed the 11+.

After attending University in London, where he read Electronics and being awarded massive qualifications; he pursued a career in Video technology and almost became a somebody  although he is a Fellow of something to do with electricity.

For the last two years he has been writing novels and is on track to his goal of six novels by 2013.
All of his first four novels are based upon Guernsey, have Guernsey road names and the main characters have Guernsey family names.

The stories have an edge and some of them should not be read by Nuns.

Rex knows a lot about Guernsey having lived much of his life on the island.

These series of writings are known as “real Guernsey novels”.

Novel. 1. if you want a baby Go to bed with an old Guernseyman.
This is a romantic comedy. A seventy-year-old man is visiting his daughter just outside London when the phone rings in his bedroom. He hears his family on a conference call suggesting it is time they put him in a oldie folks home. In response he gathers all his money, buys a bicycle and disappears along the canal paths in France. A new woman appears in his life and it all gets complicated.

Novel. 2. The timeless revenge of Marie Ferbrache.

In the 15th century there many woman were burned at the stake by religious zealots and a Marie Ferbrache was judged to be a witch and died at the stake. Her families vowed to always get revenge and this vow is carried down through each generation until today. A brilliant girl is born to the Ferbrache family but she does not conform to the rules of the society and is punished in many different ways. At each stage she gets her revenge. This is a slightly futuristic story.

Novel. 3 The Second Guernsey Evacuation.
In 1940 more than half the population of Guernsey was evacuated as the German army approached the Channel Islands.
In 2015 a major disaster once again causes the evacuation of most of the population and this book weaves the lives of some of the people as they prepare and leave the island.

Novel. 4. Rochine. A slave who escaped in Guernsey.
Thousands of slave labourers were transported, by the invading German forces, from Russia to work on large fortifications in Guernsey. One of them, Rochine, escapes and is hidden by a Guernsey man , James Le Page for many months.
After the war Rochine leaves Guernsey and assumes the name of James Le Page in his new life in England. His fortunes grow and he gets to know the Queen of England who admires his artistic works.
Marrying into royalty changes his life once again until his assumed identity is discovered
This is a complex love story.
